DUST (000-003), Eastside Projects, Birmingham, UK, (2018)

Installation view; billboard digital print, 6’30” stereo-audio, medley of performances (approx 20 minutes) 

Comprised of four parts; DUST(000) a billboard sized digital print of black mould spores; DUST(001) a song written and performed by Libita using auto-tune voice software, looped and played through genelec speakers; DUST(002) a performance using pedals through mics for vocal effects, with live feedback experimentation by Simon Bailey; DUST(003) a collaborative text exploring the origins of the project through ghostwriting performed by Birmingham rapper TrueMendous. The song samples and takes inspiration from Audre Lorde’s (1977) speech; The Transformation of Silence into Action, (from the book) Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches (1984).

DUST (000-003) was presented in the group exhibition; This is the Gallery and the Gallery is Many Things X, as an evolving exhibition / space / performance / event. Across twelve weeks and three launch events the following artists respond to / add to / change the existing conditions and/or works previously shown within the space.
